South Texas Democrats, from the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, to the outlying areas and Corpus Christi, as well as other South Texas cities, are gearing up for the biggest election fight Texas Democrats have seen in a long time.

We are working hard to make sure that President Barack Obama can look forward to a Democratic majority in the Texas State House; as well as a Texas Democratic Senator in 2010. We expect that Republicans will soon learn what will be a continuing truth: that no matter how you shade the State of Texas on CNN or other "political coloring boards," there is nothing sooner lost than a vote taken for granted.

However, we also seek to make the most of the inspiration that drew thousands of previously uninvolved citizens into the recent election, as campaign volunteers, grassroots organizers, and contributors at every level.

We don't want that energy to die; we don't want to go back to being uninvolved in our own political future; we want to make our presence known, now and for elections to come!
